The Pioneer Days festival at Sam Smith Park included an arts and crafts show, carnival rides and games, fireworks and musical entertainment. CORR hosted a booth at the festival, providing visitors information on the U.S. 411 Connector and the financial and environmental destruction Route D-VE would bring to Bartow County. Members passed out flyers and “Stop D-VE” and “There’s Another Way” car magnets to passersby. Visitors also signed CORR’s petition and reviewed maps comparing the connector routes.
CORR members also took part in Cartersville’s annual Labor Day parade, walking through downtown and waving banners that read “Coalition for the Right Road” and “Stop D-VE.” The group was met with positive support throughout the parade including cheers from the audience – “Yes! Stop that road!”
